Calls for Government to hear the ‘Voice of Nadi’ (with Baron Bruno, Owner/Director of Professionals on the speaker panel and presenting on “Accountability and Responsibility”)

Nadi Town needs to have a strategic plan, a master plan, says Isei Tudreu.

The former Fiji Airports acting chief executive officer said this during the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) Business Forum at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi on Friday.

Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosarogo opened the forum.

Mr Tudreu, who is now a farmer, raised a major issue of waste management.

“Nadi we cannot depend on Lautoka to take our rubbish. We got to have strategic plan, a master plan for Nadi Town,” he said.

“Stakeholders need to sit together because the Nadi Airport will stop you from a landfill area within 17 kilometres from the airport. But there is a solution. Singapore is a size of Taveuni and how come they don’t have a problem there.

Because they have decided to invest ambitiously to turning waste into energy.

“Mr Vosarogo said they have an ambitious plan for Fiji but it a plan for Fiji, not for Nadi. “Everybody will come to one heart and one mind when building Nadi a city.”

Mr Vosarogo said it was important for Government communally to hear the voice of Nadi.

“This a very powerful forum and a strong cry that we attended to,” he said.

“It is important for government to hear the voice of Nadi because this is really Fiji’s interface. This is the city that almost one million tourists rely on before they go somewhere else. Their first impression of Fiji is Nadi. We have got to fix our traffic management issue, we have got to fix our infrastructure, we have got to fix our waste management issue. I will assure that i will speak to high level people who are responsible for these issues.”
